About Us

Austin Peay State University offers a Master of Speech-Language Pathology (MSLP) degree through the Department of Health and Human Performance. The MSLP degree program prepares students for careers in speech-language pathology through comprehensive coursework and clinical training. The MSLP degree program is a five-semester program for students who have completed necessary pre-professional requirements and a bachelor's degree. Graduates of the 365bet MSLP degree program will be able to practice professionally as an entry level speech-language pathologist and will be prepared for a successful clinical fellowship.

The curriculum and clinical experiences align with the 2020 Standards for certification for speech-language pathology established by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) Council for Clinical Certification in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (CFCC). Graduating students may also be eligible for licensure in speech-language pathology by the Tennessee Department of Health, Division of Health Related Boards. Successful completion of the program requirements will also ensure graduates of the MSLP degree program will be eligible for a Professional School Service Personnel License from the Sate of Tennessee’s Department of Education.  

The Master of Speech-Language Pathology (MSLP) residential education program in speech-language pathology at Austin Peay State University is a Candidate for Accreditation by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (CAA) of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, 2200 Research Boulevard, #310, Rockville, MD 20850, 800-498-2071 or 301-296-5700. Candidacy is a “preaccreditation” status with the CAA, awarded to developing or emerging programs for a maximum period of 5 years.
